Administration

I am Layne Rinks, Principal of Muscle Shoals Career Academy and the Director of Career and Technical Education for Muscle Shoals City Schools. I bring more than a decade of experience in educational leadership and career and technical education across multiple school systems in North Alabama.

Prior to joining Muscle Shoals, I served as the Director of Career and Technical Education for Florence City Schools and as an Assistant Principal and CTE Administrator at Florence High School. I have also worked as an Athletic Director and teacher at James Clemens High School, and previously taught at Chelsea High School and Hewitt-Trussville Middle School, where I instructed courses ranging from social sciences and economics to computer science and AP-level coursework.

I hold degrees in instructional and educational leadership and am currently completing my Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Throughout my career, I have focused on expanding career pathways, increasing dual enrollment and credentialing opportunities, strengthening work-based learning, and building strong partnerships with postsecondary institutions and industry. As principal, my goal is to ensure every student is prepared for success in college, careers, and the workforce.
